Tuition

Weekly tuition payments will be due each Friday morning or the last day care is given that week. This payment will remain the same if less or no care is needed, regardless of the reason, in order to reserve your child’s place in the program. Tuition is collected in advance either on a weekly basis or monthly basis. Failure to pay may cause care to be denied. A late fee of $5.00 per child, per minute is charged for care given after regular hours of operation.

If tuition checks bounce you will be charged $35 each time a check bounces. Any bank charges incurred as a result of your bounced check are your responsibility and are to be included in the next week’s check. If tuition checks bounce twice you will be required to pay tuition in cash from that point on.

We do not close because of weather often; if Kid’s Kastle needs to close because of severe weather tuition will be due.

Vacations

Kid’s Kastle will be closed for vacations at various times during the year. The parent(s)/legal guardian(s) will be given a minimum of two weeks notice of any vacation. The parent(s)/legal guardian(s) will not pay tuition when Kid’s Kastle is closed for vacation, but tuition payments will be due for any vacation time you plan except when your dates coincide with a scheduled closing of Kid’s Kastle. The parent(s)/legal guardian(s) are expected to give Kid’s Kastle a minimum of two weeks notice of their vacation plans. There may be times when I am on vacation but Kid’s Kastle is open with a State Approved Substitute. If there is a substitute available and Kid’s Kastle is not closed, tuition is due.

Sick Leave

If Kid’s Kastle cannot open due to an illness with the provider or her family, there will be no charge for care that day. The parent(s)/legal guardian(s) will be responsible for the regular weekly tuition payment when their child is absent due to an illness.

Trial Period

The first four (4) weeks will be considered a trial period. The contract may be canceled by either parent(s)/legal guardian(s) or Kid’s Kastle during this time period.

Substitute Care

An alternative child care arrangement in the event Kid’s Kastle is closed is the responsibility of the parent(s)/legal guardian(s). Assistance in making other arrangements will be given whenever possible. Although Kid’s Kastle will recommend another provider for back-up care due to vacation or sick leave, Kid’s Kastle cannot be held responsible for your child while he/she is under the supervision of a substitute caregiver.

Illness Policy

Kid’s Kastle cannot provide care for a sick child. Please do not bring children in for care if they exhibit any of the following: a fever of 100 degrees (orally) or 100.5 (rectally) or higher, a contagious disease, rash of undetermined cause, diarrhea, vomiting, or severe cough. Children do not need a fever to be too sick to attend daycare. They need to be able to participate in our daily activities including going outside and running around with the other children. The parent(s)/legal guardian(s) will have to make other arrangements for the care of the child for those days. If a child has a bacterial infection, has been receiving antibiotics for at least 48 hours, or has an illness which has been determined by a physician to be non-contagious, the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) and provider will discuss plans for the child’s care.

If the child becomes ill while in the day care home, the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) or authorized person will be contacted and expected to remove the sick child from the day care immediately. Please do not return a child to care until the symptoms have subsided and their temperature has been back to normal for at least twenty-four (24) hours.

Children may not be given any medication, prescription or non-prescription, without written permission from the child’s parent(s)/legal guardian(s) along with written permission from the child’s physician. If both permission slips are not available, medication cannot be given to the child. The parent(s)/legal guardian(s) is welcome to come any time to administer their child’s medication. Kid’s Kastle will never give the child the first dose of any new medication in case of an allergic reaction. Kid’s Kastle reserves the right not to medicate a child under certain circumstances, such as giving injections.

The parent(s)/legal guardian(s) will be notified of any illness that their child has come in contact with in the day care home.

The parent(s)/legal guardian(s) must keep their child’s immunizations up to date in accordance with the laws of the State of Connecticut and must complete an annual immunization record, signed by a doctor, for their child which will be given to the provider. Failure to comply may result in care being denied.

Emergency Care

For life-threatening emergencies, the provider will call 911 and the parent(s)/legal guardian(s). In an emergency situation, a child will be transported to an appropriate medical facility for treatment. It is understood and agreed that in some medical situations, the provider will need to contact the local emergency resource before the parent(s)/legal guardian(s), the child’s physician, and/or other adult on the child’s behalf.

Arrivals

Please allow enough time in the morning to let your child ease into the group. Try to meet your agreed upon arrival time, as late arrivals can disrupt and delay activities planned for the day. If you are going to be late, please let the provider know as soon as possible. If you have not telephoned that you will be late, Kid’s Kastle reserves the right to leave (on a field trip, etc.) after a fifteen-minute grace period.

Departures

Please allow enough time for a comfortable transition for your child leaving the day care home. Often a child needs time to finish an activity or experience before he/she leaves. It is important to have a consistent pick-up time as children sense when parents are late and at times become worried and/or frightened by waiting. The phone call to alert the provider of your delay will also be used to explain your absence to your child.

Special Needs

A car seat is required for any child. Diapers, wipes and any other special needs will be provided by the parent(s)/legal guardian(s). The children bring their lunch every day in an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack if needed. The parent(s)/legal guardian(s) may include items that can be warmed up in the microwave.

Clothing

The parent(s)/legal guardian(s) needs to leave with the provider at least one complete change of clothing, including shirt, pants, or shorts, underwear, socks and a sweater or sweatshirt. Please dress children in clothing that will be appropriate for outdoor play and for messy activities such as painting and cooking.

Meals

Breakfast, lunch and snack are provided by the parent(s)/legal guardian(s). You may bring items to be warmed up in the microwave. Normally meals are served at the hours listed below:

Breakfast 8:00 a.m. — 8:30 a.m.
Lunch 11:30 a.m. — 12:30 p.m.
Afternoon Snack 3:30 p.m. — 4:00 p.m.

Termination

If either the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) or the provider chooses to terminate the day care arrangement, at least two (2) weeks notice will be given. In the event the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) does not give the provider two weeks advance notice, the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) agrees to pay the provider two weeks tuition.

If a day care child exhibits a behavior that hurts the other children (for example excessive biting or other aggressive behavior), that child will be asked to leave the program. Two weeks notice does not need to be given in this situation in consideration of the safety of the other children.

I (we) understand that the law prohibits corporal punishment by the day care provider and that the day care provider is required by law to report evidence or knowledge of suspected child abuse or neglect to the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood.
